Aziz Abadsafian

Staff Research Associate

Aziz joined the lab in 2016 after working in biotech and is the current lab manager. His research focuses on the quality control functions of pheRS and the effects of misacylation on cellular physiology. Outside of the lab, he is pursuing an MBA to continue his career in industry.

Janine Chan

Undergraduate Researcher

Janine joined the lab in 2018 during her freshman year. She is currently studying the effects of editing-deficient IleRS on the mutation frequencies of E. coli and B. subtilis. When she graduates, she plans to go to medical school for an MD.

Ashley Lamba

Undergraduate Researcher

Ashley is a Biology major who joined the lab in Winter of 2019. She researches the cellular mechanisms that cause physiological defects in cells with ileRS editing deficiencies. Outside of the lab she is the President of the American Medical Women’s Association at UCLA, and is currently in the process of applying to medical school.
